Hey, it’s Jackii again from JackiiNaturals! Recently, I stumbled upon some great superfoods on my recent trip to my local natural/organic supermarket. These superfoods are three of my favourites and are some of the best ones for your health.

1. Maca Root

Maca is a plant that is grown in the high plateaus on the mountains in Peru. It is best known for helping with stamina and fatigue issues as well as aiding with anemia. It can also help with depression, bone problems, and female hormone imbalances, and building the immune system. I use maca root extract as a supplement and since it can be used for culinary purposes, it can be taken without interactions with other foods. The supplement brand I use is MacaPro, but maca root can also be consumed as a beverage, baked, roasted, or even as a soup. Maca root has many fatty acids and amino acids which make this a superfood you’ll want to try!

2.  Goji Berries

Goji berries are small, red, sweet and when dried, they resemble the shape and size of a typical raisin. They contain many antioxidants which may even prevent cancer, although there is no scientific research to prove that claim. Goji berries contain beta-carotene which can help promote healthy and glowing skin. They also contain a lot of vitamin C to boost the immune system, help keep healthy eyes, and aid in overall health. The seeds contain fiber, as wellYou can use goji berry powder as an addition in smoothies or even sprinkled on your food, but goji berries can also be eaten like raisins, straight from the package. When consumed on a regular basis as a beverage, it can also increase energy levels. If you are on blood thinners or are taking diabetic medication, you may have a negative reaction to eating these berries, however, even though many people claim that goji berries can cure diabetes.

  1. Golden Berries

Golden berries contain a lot of fibre, beta-carotene, protein, vitamin A and C, and bioflavonoids. They’re tart and contain many fatty acids which can help aid in overall health. They may also inhibit the enzyme that is responsible for breaking down starchy carbohydrates and sugars that are otherwise difficult to break down. Golden berries can also reduce inflammation, redness, and swelling, as well. With regular consumption, they can also help with liver health, kidney health, and other vital organ health.
